How long are therapy sessions?
Most sessions are 50 minutes. If EMDR is being used as treatment, 90 minute sessions may be beneficial and produce more efficient results. I also offer intensives for couples. typically 1-2 days. For individuals who are coming from out of state or who want to do a significant amount of therapeutic work in a condensed time, I offer EMDR intensives and Brainspotting intensives.
Where do I have to be located to be a client of yours?
I am licensed in Colorado, Arizona, and Virginia. As part of Compact Counseling, I will soon be able to meet with people living in Minnesota and Ohio, and eventually many other states. Depending on the country you reside in, I am available for international tele-therapy.
Do I have to feel emotions in therapy?
In some families, we receive messages that not all of our emotions are welcome. It makes sense that experiencing emotions may be very difficult. That is what I am here to help with so the emotions don't have to go back on you in some destructive way. We work at a pace that your nervous system can handle.

Think of therapy as the emotional gym. If you could lift 25 pounds and I handed you 60, that would be asking you to lift more than you could. Similar to therapy, I meet you where you are and we increase your emotional capacity in increments that empower you to feel successful.
