Resolving Emotional Pain

Many people do not realize the extent to which disturbing events in their past affect them now.  Anxiety, anger, depression, and anti-social behaviors are sometimes a response to unresolved issues.  The issues often stem from emotional injuries ranging from neglect to abuse.  It does not matter if others believe the events constitute trauma; it matters if it is negatively impacting your life.  Using EMDR processes and protocols, I treat the effects of painful events so you can live a more relaxed and joyful life.  Select the "Individuals and EMDR" link below to learn more about EMDR.

Substance Use Disorders, Co-Dependency

Do you struggle with alcohol or other drugs?  Do you feel like you are in an emotional prison because a loved one is abusing substances?  I use evidence-based methods to replace coping skills that don't completely work with new skills that improve your relationships - including the one with yourself.

Grief

Grief can feel overwhelming.  It sometimes leaves us feeling like we are losing our grip.  We often cannot predict all they layers of grief we may experience, or all the meanings loss can have in our lives.  If the relationship was complicated, you may feel a sense of unfinished emotional business or feeling stuck in grief and unable to move forward.  I use a Companioning approach to support you with understanding.

Relationship Issues

Whether struggling with a partnership, parent-child, or other relationships, therapy can help.  Often, people's intentions are positive but they lack they understanding of how to make them better.  I teach you how to negotiate your relationships, compromise, and ask for what you really want in a way that inspires others.  For couples, click on the Couples link below to learn more.
